About ELECOM 2.4GHz Wireless Finger-operated Large size Trackball
Overall Feedback:
90% positive
87% appreciated the adjustable settings
The finger position for the buttons has greatly improved since the M-DT series. The right click and Fn3 buttons fit right under my ring and pinky fingers, leaving my index and middle fingers to control the ball.
89% liked the easy connectivity, but 11% found it difficult
Wireless connectivity is convenient, providing freedom of movement and reducing cable clutter on the desk.
During heavy network use, my mouse pointer moves sluggishly because my computer's 2.4GHz WiFi disrupts the wireless connection.
87% liked its durability, but 13% experienced wear and tear
The motion of the ball is smooth and its weight stabilizes the position, allowing for accurate sniping and reliable flick moves.
I have ordered industrial grade 10 ceramic bearing balls of 2.5mm to replace the artificial ruby ones. This shows that I have personally faced the issue of durability while using the trackball.
85% appreciated the comfortable grip
I find the ergonomic design of the mouse to be praiseworthy. It fits comfortably in the hand, providing a natural grip and reducing strain during extended use.
Initially skeptical about the change, but after less than a day of use, I found it extremely comfortable with my little finger and ring finger naturally on the two right buttons.
The grip of the trackball is very comfortable. People with smaller hands would find it even more comfortable.
I can comfortably press the scroll wheel of the mouse without having to grip the other side because of its weight.
95% liked the quiet operation, but 5% found it noisy
I have complained about the high pitch tone emitted by the device. The noise persists even after trying different USB ports and an externally powered USB hub.
79% praised the high-quality sensor, while 21% experienced accuracy issues
When I pop the ball out with the device plugged in, the sound stops, indicating that it is related to the optical sensor.
I suggest not using it for gaming as the sensor cannot process a SPUN ball even on 'high' optical processing.
I have noticed that the trackball may require frequent cleaning or maintenance to ensure smooth operation. Dust or debris can affect the tracking accuracy and responsiveness by accumulating on the ball or in the trackball housing.
The finger position for the buttons has greatly improved since the M-DT series. The right click and Fn3 buttons fit right under my ring and pinky fingers, leaving my index and middle fingers to control the ball.
The tablet has options to adjust wireless signal strength and tracking sensitivity for faster speed or longer battery life, and its battery life is solid.
I would prefer a smaller trackball like the Kensington Bluetooth SlimBlade Trackball Mouse Wireless K72281US, which has Bluetooth connectivity instead of RF, saving me a USB port on my Dell XPS 18.
