About Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen USB Audio Interface
Overall Feedback:
74% positive
84% liked the rugged and durable build, while 16% found it flimsy
The build quality is very good with plain, low noise, and low distortion.
The preamps of this interface give me a transparent sound compared to my other interfaces, which tend to color the sound. I am happy with the build quality of the interface.
The product has top notch build quality and is stylish, compact and graceful.
I would prefer the LEDs to be less bright at night, and there is no dimmer for the LEDs at the front.
I am experiencing audio drop outs with my 4th Gen 2i2.
I strongly advise against purchasing the Focusrite Scarlett as it lacks quality, misses features, and has weak support and drivers.
79% found it compatible, but 21% experienced compatibility issues
On a Mac, Scarlett is plug and play and compatible with the computer. The audio quality of v.4 is terrific, as mentioned by the user.
The device has a prettier display for input, better knobs, and looks more modern. It is also compatible with USB C.
We need to change Bios settings, run Latencymon, and shut off all our network adapters as per the company's instructions.
On Mac, the device works fine, but Windows drivers disconnect frequently and require resetting.
70% appreciated the variety of connectivity, but 30% found them limited
I find the USB-C connectivity better to work with and the unit looks and feels premium.
I switched to ASIO4ALL and faced fewer issues.
I have to change Bios settings and run Latencymon and shut off all my network adapters as the device is not compatible with Windows.
The Windows drivers disconnect frequently and I have to reset the device, but the Mac is fine.
80% liked the size and weight
The unit is beautiful and the dials are weighty and tactile, but it is heavy.
The gain has increased from 54ish db to 69db, which powers sm7b without a cloudlifter. This indicates that the 4th gen 2i2 is larger or heavier than the 3rd gen.
80% praised for its crisp and clear sound
When paired with either a Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro or a pair of good studio monitors, the sound quality is clear and faithful.
The preamps give me a transparent sound unlike other interfaces I own that tend to color the sound. This one sounds neutral and transparent without altering the sound.
The sound quality is great even through the front sockets with a 3.5 jack.
The output sound is crisp and clear, and the mic is warm and clear. It is also 24bit vs 32bit.
I have used other top-notch products like UAD and Apogee, which indicates that the focusrite product I am reviewing is also of good build quality.
