About Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 (3rd Gen) USB Audio Interface with Pro Tools
Overall Feedback:
71% positive
71% liked the rugged and durable build, while 29% found it flimsy
I am disappointed with the sound quality. It has a higher noise level compared to the Yamaha Audiogram6, which I find to be of better quality and with lower noise.
81% found it compatible, but 19% experienced compatibility issues
I connected my Roland synth/keyboard directly into the interface and enabled the AIR feature. I like how it is affecting my piano tone.
There is an issue with the compatibility of the bundled DAW with the unit, as mentioned on the Avid website.
I am not happy with the interface compatibility. Even my old interface did not have this problem.
71% appreciated the variety of connectivity, but 29% found them limited
The XLR ports on the front are 1/4 inch LINE LEVEL inputs, which is great for connecting a mixer board if I need extra mics.
I did not mention anything specific about the connectivity of the computer-recording-audio-interfaces.
84% liked the size and weight
I ended up buying this model instead of a smaller one because of the extra monitor features, dual headphones, talkback, and more IOs for only about a hundred bucks more.
The 8i6 is just the right size for my home studio and the 3rd generation works very well.
87% praised for its crisp and clear sound, while 13% noticed some distortion
The sound quality has great depth and clarity with nothing overly hyped or boosted.
The preamps sound great with very low noise.
The sound quality of this audio interface is better than any other.
I have a better option available and am disappointed with the sound quality.
79% found the user interface intuitive, but 21% found it confusing
The sound quality of this interface is great with great depth and clarity. I have compared it with something much more expensive and the differences are actually very minimal.
I decided to live with the interface despite some issues.
I connected my Roland synth/keyboard directly into the interface and enabled the AIR feature, and I like how it is affecting my piano tone.
I liked the interface and decided to live with it despite the other issues.
I am disappointed with the sound quality. It has a higher noise level compared to the Yamaha Audiogram6, which I find to be of better quality and with lower noise.
The interface feels solid with nice quality plastic knobs that have professional mixer-like resistance. The main frame is metal, but the large knob for controlling studio monitor output feels cheap.
I have found that the mic amps have excellent quality and nothing in this price bracket can match it.
