About Behringer U-PHONO UFO202 Audiophile USB/Audio Interface
Overall Feedback:
73% positive
81% liked the rugged and durable build, while 19% found it flimsy
I would recommend staying away from the unit due to its poor build quality.
The sound quality is thin and tinny.
The product cannot be used as a preamp for a turntable powered only by USB, despite the claim.
89% found it compatible, but 11% experienced compatibility issues
The hardware is compatible with any production software that can access the device driver.
It works very well on my Dell 620 laptop running Scientific Linux 6.2.
My B&O cartridge is moving iron and not moving coil, so the device is not compatible.
There is no adjustment for the output levels going to the computer.
87% appreciated the variety of connectivity, but 13% found them limited
I connected the turntable to the receiver and then to the UFO202 RCA inputs and the USB connection to my laptop where I have installed the Audacity program. It works great.
When the left input is unplugged, even when the right input is still connected, there is no audio information resulting in a MONO recording.
I connected earphones directly to the UFO202 monitor port and confirmed that both channels were coming in, indicating a fault in the ADC or USB circuitry.
79% praised for its crisp and clear sound, while 21% noticed some distortion
I highly recommend this hardware for anyone needing a higher quality soundcard than available on a typical laptop, especially if they need to attach a phonograph.
I am not a sound expert and the original tapes were not created under ideal sound circumstances. However, the sound quality seems good enough for my purposes and I will be able to enhance it a little more once the tapes are digitized.
For my purposes, the sound quality is good enough even though I am not a sound expert.
I manually set the sound quality settings to 2 channel, 16 bit, 44,100Hz, CD quality.
79% found the user interface intuitive, but 21% found it confusing
The audio interface is suitable for recording purposes and provides clean sound when used with a mono mixer or any other device.
There is no option to adjust the output levels going to the computer.
The device has a solid and durable feel due to its robust, all-metal chassis.
