I noticed that the Micro USBs only plug in one way and it is not thoughtful to leave the user trying to shove it in wrong. I suggest a raised symbol on one side to quickly identify it by feel. Other brands are more thoughtful than this.

I confirmed that the problem was with the wire by replacing it with a different cable that worked flawlessly with the same charging source and headphones.
