I have found the gel to be effective for cold sore treatment, despite the initial burning sensation upon application. It is recommended to let it dry well and avoid putting lips together or licking them.

This gel works really well, and although it burns like fire when first applied, the burning sensation goes away in about 15 seconds.

After trying other products with no success, I found that this gel stopped the pain, provided a cooling sensation, and a protective film. Within two days, the cold sore was gone.
I have used the product and found that it worked well in Arizona, providing light numbing and a protective coating. However, it did not work well back in Oregon. My experience with the product leads me to give mixed feedback on its safety for cold-sore-fever-blister-treatments.
