During an outbreak, I noticed that the applicator is a roller ball which increases the risk of spreading the infection to other areas on my lips.
The only downside of the balm is its ball applicator, which may transmit blisters/infections to the rest of the lip. To avoid this, I use an ear swab for the blister and a separate swab for the rest of my lips.
