I suggest paying close attention to the directions while assembling the charcoal grill, as certain pieces must interlock in a very specific direction.
I am frustrated with the assembly instructions for the ash receptacle. The person who wrote them must be clueless or not care about the consumer experience.
I suggest using the air vents to control and direct heat. More air will result in higher temperature. Closing one half of the air vents can be used to direct heat to the other half for indirect heat cooking.
The heat control is excellent with vents on the top and bottom.
