I suggest using the air vents to control and direct heat. More air will result in higher temperature. Closing one half of the air vents can be used to direct heat to the other half for indirect heat cooking.
The combination of front & rear multiple, adjustable dampers in the base, and the double top vents are perfectly placed for precision temperature control.
I tried adjusting all the vents but the grill has a mind of its own and I am tired of ruining food.
