About WEN 40417 40V Max Lithium Ion 16-Inch Brushless Chainsaw with 4Ah Battery and Charger
Overall Feedback:
91% positive
89% liked the safety features
I love the placement of the single 40V battery for safety and handling
I appreciate the safety features of the chainsaw, such as the kickback bar switch and trigger that quickly stop the chain. The slower chain speed compared to gas saws makes it much safer for me as a hobby wood cutter.
90% were satisfied with the chain type and sharpness, but 10% weren't
I used the chainsaw to drop, limb, and cut firewood. I also cleared 3/4 of an acre of alder with it,
I was amazed that the saw could cut through anything I tried with ease.
I found that the saw worked well with softwood like pine, spruce, aspen.
I am still using the OEM chain which has minimal stretch, but the cutting links are spaced further apart which makes cutting slower. I will soon try an Oregon or similar quality chain to see if this will improve.
95% were satisfied with the noise level
I estimate that the chainsaw produces only 1/3 of the noise of a gas saw and there are no fumes to breathe.
93% found it easy to maneuver
I found the saw easy to manage despite my age and stamina.
92% appreciated the bar length
For average trees, the 16" bar does the job well, but for really thick trees, it may not be suitable.
The 16-inch bar length of the chainsaw is perfect for me.
94% liked the engine power
For my jobs, the chainsaw has excellent power and is lightweight.
I was initially worried about the engine power, but after using it, I found it powerful enough for my needs. I was able to saw dry hickory without any trouble, which is probably the toughest wood I am going to encounter.
I find the chainsaw's alarm extremely annoying when it kicks in after coming off the throttle. It is assumed to be a warning that the saw is still powered on, but I find it very annoying.
The chainsaw worked like a beast throughout the entire ordeal.
