The touch button on the bottom-right of the headset allows me to interact with the VR app/video without the need of a remote control.
I did not mention anything specific about controller compatibility.
There are no hand controls, but our system does not offer them.
If you purchase this product with a phone that does not have a functional gyroscope, you will not be able to turn around and have the picture move like a regular VR headset.

I find the image resolution hard on my eyes and the pixels too noticeable.
