I have dropped my phone a few times and I am satisfied with the protection offered by the cell-phone-basic-case. I am sure that the case protected it from breaking.
The bottom part of the front where the plug is, is loose and soft and offers almost no protection. My iPhone glass chipped after one drop.

I have a cell-phone-basic-case with a shock proof design. My phone fell from pretty high bleachers and there was barely a mark on the case from the fall, let alone the actual phone.
