The range of our walkie talkies is around 3/4 miles around our small town and they work great for me and my buddies.
The radio range is approximately 2km in cityscape with lots of concrete buildings, which I find pretty good.
The radio's range is limited by environmental factors and works best within line of sight. Signal degradation is normal when obstacles are present, as with any 2 way radios.
In a normal suburban neighborhood, the range of our two-way radios is only about 250ft, which is a huge difference from what is claimed.
