The range of our walkie talkies is around 3/4 miles in our small town and they work great for me and my buddies.
In a cityscape with lots of concrete buildings, the range is approximately 2km (approximately 1.3 miles), which is pretty good in my opinion.
The range of the 2 way radio is limited by environmental factors. It works best within line of sight and signal degradation is normal when there are obstacles around.
I tested the product and found that the range is not as claimed. I could only hear my wife at 0.07 miles.

The battery life was very poor, so I had to change batteries every two days. But I bought rechargeable ones that are much smaller and the charge lasts almost all week.
My new batteries drained in just four days with barely any use, indicating poor battery life.
