I conducted a range test on 146.52 Megacycles and communicated with a mobile station with a quarter wave antenna on the bonnet at a distance of 14.5 kilometers (9 miles) away. The communication was clear.
The range is exceptional with no signal degradation even when used indoors behind concrete walls at a distance of over 1/2 mile.
