I have noticed that this product breaks down rust and leaves the part cleaner, but obviously oily, which makes it different from WD.
I recommend using Sta-Bil Rust Prevention to prevent rust from occurring.
I used STA-BIL on multiple outdoor equipment and it worked exceptionally well.

I leave it on for about 3 days before revisiting as the longer I leave it on before wiping off, the better it works. Initially, I left it on for 24 hours.
I think the product will help as it does not dry.
Sta-bil Rust stopper sprays on thick compared to other lubricants and forms a water resistant coating as the solvents evaporate.
