About Ospho 605 Metal Treatment, 32 Fl Oz
Overall Feedback:
95% positive
97% liked its compatibility with various metals, but 3% found it incompatible with their specific metal
On lighter rust, the product works better.
I cannot recommend this product as it is not compatible with rusted parts in the US.
93% liked its quick drying time, but 7% found it took too long
I did not follow the recommended 24 hour minimum drying time for the Ospho and applied it and let the car sit overnight. In the morning, I found some drip sized spots of surface rust in some spots. I sponged some more Ospho over these spots and let the car sit in the Florida sun. The original coating of Ospho from the day before was about 22 hours in and dry, the touch up spots to get rid of the surface rust were about 3 hours and felt dry from the sun so I shot some primer on the car. The next day, the spots that I only gave 3 hours to dry were bubbled up so I had to do it over, the spots that were ~22 hours dry were fine.
95% found it easy to apply
I used OSPHO in a pump-up sprayer to remove the rust and paint from the lawn chairs. It was easy to apply and worked well.
This product is great for stopping rust and converting it to an iron surface that can be painted.
97% praised the excellent protective coating, while 3% found it wore off quickly
I have been using Ospho for years and it is a wonderful product for removing rust. It simply works well.
I witnessed the amazing transformation of rust to bare metal in just 30 seconds.
Ospho was effective in treating rust on 1/4 thick steel plates. After applying it, the rust turned black and I was able to paint the surfaces after it turned black and was dry.
I compared the effectiveness of Ospho with Corroseal and found that Ospho is slower to react and maybe less reactive too.
97% appreciated its long-lasting protection
After using the product, my windows still look great after 2 months with no flaking of paint or rust bleed through.
I had to apply several coats of rust inhibitor over consecutive days to get rid of persistent rust spots. Since painting over it, I haven't had any issues for several months now.
93% liked its deep surface penetration, but 7% found it struggled with rough surfaces
After waiting for 24 hours, I noticed no change in the texture or color of the corrosion. This indicates that the product was not effective in covering the surface of the corrosion.
Rephrased:
After waiting for 24 hours, there was no change in the texture or color of the corrosion, indicating that the product was not effective in covering the surface.
Any unevenness in the coating will result in a horrible surface to paint over. I had to sand down some areas to get rid of ridges and dried drops so I could have a smooth, flat surface to paint over.
90% praised the excellent surface finish, while 10% noticed a sticky residue
For best results, it is recommended to mask accordingly or disassemble the product as it can be hard on paint nearby.
Any uneven application of the coating will result in a horrible surface to paint over. I had to sand down some areas to get rid of ridges and dried drops to have a smooth, flat surface to paint over.
81% praised the excellent protective coating and ability to prevent rust

It takes a very long time to dry, even after using a thin coat.
