I found this pump highly effective and efficient in pumping out filtered/potable water. When compared with another pump of similar size and professed capability, it pumped out 3 liters of filtered/potable water to every 1 liter from the other pump.
I find this filter very useful when I go backpacking. It allows me to fill up my bladder or bottle with filtered water, which is much lighter than carrying all of my water without filtering.
The gasket issue on the filter cartridge doesn't affect the filter's effectiveness, but it's still irritating.
The leak is still irritating, but it doesn't affect the filter's effectiveness.
