About GRAYL GeoPress Replacement Filter & Purifier Cartridge
Overall Feedback:
91% positive
93% praised for its long-lasting durability, while 7% experienced a shorter lifespan
The design is durable, easy and quick to use. It filters out all kinds of debris and heavy metals, bacteria, virus, and chemicals.
I have found that the product is not durable enough to handle the supposed 300+ presses and 65 gal of water.
81% appreciated its easy cleaning, while 19% found it high maintenance
Using the Grayl filter saves money and eliminates the problem of plastic releasing harmful substances into the water.
I faced an issue with the fill line on the outer container being marked a little too high, causing overflow spill from the side. However, I found a solution by filling to about a centimeter below that line and it worked great.
91% found it easy to using, while 9% had difficulties
If it takes more than 10 seconds to press the Grayl to filter water, the filter cartridge will soon need to be replaced.
I had difficulty pushing the device down when the water was in the bottle to filter it, which affected my ease of use. I rated it 4 stars for ease of use.
The product is bulky, heavy, requires force to use, and doesn't hold much water.
93% appreciated its effectiveness
GRAYL is a fantastic item with superb design that filters out heavy metals, bacteria, virus, cyst, and chemicals of all kinds.
I have used the filter while traveling to remote areas of other countries and it helped me avoid getting sick or suffering from travelers diarrhea.
91% liked its lightweight and compact design, but 9% found it bulky
I have requested the company to make some changes to the product to make it more portable. Specifically, I would like a lower profile lid for the Grayl GeoPress so that it can fit inside a slim side pouch on a backpack, or a taller version of the Grayl Ultralight with a slim profile lid that has a twist top to let air escape.
72% praised for its fast water flow rate, while 28% found it slow
After 20-25 presses, it gets tough to push down and takes at least a minute or more to press down.
74% liked its ability to filter large quantities of water, while 26% found it limited
Even with clear tap water, it is tough to press the product after so few presses, although it is supposed to handle 300+ presses (around 65 gal. water).
I love this system and would definitely buy another one if it goes bad. I also recommend the actual filter system from Platypus if someone doesn't want to make their own.
I have used these emergency water straws on several day hikes without any issues, despite being crunched in my pack. This shows that the product is durable and can withstand rough handling during outdoor activities.
