About Morakniv Craftline Basic 511 High Carbon Steel Fixed Blade Utility Knife
Overall Feedback:
93% positive
91% praised for its razor-sharp blade
I found that the knife came razor-sharp from the factory and I can slice thin curls off a sheet of paper without honing it. I've used it on a couple of trips and it's still as sharp as when I first used it.
I took the knife to a 5k Japanese water-stone to polish out some marks and found that the steel is pretty hard and the edge just kept getting better.
I have noticed that the knife is extremely sharp and can cut almost anything, even sharper than some razors I have used.

The knife came razor sharp but had some vertical grinder marks on the blade.
92% appreciated its rugged build, though 8% experienced breakdown
I have not experienced any rusting, pitting, or other corrosion while using the knife.
I have used the knife for camping and it has not experienced any rusting, pitting, or other corrosion.
I found that the TPE material is durable and hard enough to prevent blade compression at the spine.
The knife has a few spots of rust where the blade meets the grip, but that can be expected over time and use due to its carbon steel.
90% praised the high-quality sheath, but 10% found it flimsy
I was pleasantly surprised with the sheath quality, despite reading plenty of reviews tearing it down. The knife clicks into place and holds fairly securely, and the belt loop is easy to get into place and secure.
The sheath is easy to use with minimal fumbling when pulling the knife.

The sheath is well-designed and easy to use. It can be easily clipped on a belt and stays there with minimal fumbling to get it back in.
I like the button that allows me to string two knives together and this sheath accepts the knife with a slight 'click' when I push it in the sheath.
I find that the sheath functions very well with great knife retention. It is also drilled at the bottom to avoid rust, which is common for high carbon blades.

The initial impression of the knife was good. The serrations were super sharp and the blade was decently hollow ground, but it needed some work to achieve a razor edge.
I found that the blade is well hardened and holds its edge. It comes functionally sharp but not well honed. With 5 minutes on a high grade whetstone, it will serve as a great little workhorse.
I have noticed that the knife takes an incredibly sharp edge and maintains it regardless of the activity.
