About Buck Knives 863 Large Selkirk Fixed Blade Survival Knife
Overall Feedback:
87% positive
84% praised for its razor-sharp blade
I have found that the blade is very sharp and slices paper with little resistance, while also carving wood effectively.
85% appreciated its rugged build, though 15% experienced breakdown
I have noticed that the knife is not durable and will chip and dent easily if used for hard use or batonning.
71% praised the high-quality sheath, but 29% found it flimsy
The plastic/nylon sheath holds the blade firmly, making it difficult to accidentally fall out.
I am dissatisfied with the quality of the sheath. The knife rattles around in the hard sheath and makes a loud noise. I am concerned that the knife could fall out if a spill occurs.
I was disappointed with the quality of the sheath that came with the knife. It was terrible and I had to get a custom-made kydex sheath from a friend.
I was disappointed with the lack of a better sheath for my knife, even after contacting the manufacturer Buck who had no plans to provide one. It led to a negative experience for me.
I have used other knives with replaceable blades that are sharper than this fixed blade knife. However, I will still use this fixed blade knife for field dressing and processing big game.
