About Coghlan's Waterproof Flint Striker Black
90% appreciated its rugged durability, but 10% found it prone to rust
After a year of storage, the product disintegrated and the rod shed half of its diameter.
83% found it easy to use in the dark
I like the size and shape of the handle at the top of the flint. It is large enough and properly designed for comfortable and easy grip while drawing the flint across the steel.
Practicing with the ferro rod is the most important element to use it easily. Different knives, strikers, and circumstances can be used for practice.
79% praised for its reliable ignition, though 21% experienced issues in windy conditions
After using it for 15 minutes, I could only get 3 or 4 weak sparks that couldn't ignite anything.
I recommend buying the original if you cringe at the thought of using your knife as a striker, as the price is unbeatable.
It was difficult to start a fire because the sparks wouldn't go onto the tinder pile.
89% praised for its water-resistant design, though 11% experienced issues in heavy rain
During one of my first uses of the set, the flint and its plastic handle became separated, which is a negative comment.
I would not want to use this firesteel in the field as it may not be water-resistant enough.
