About bayite 1/2 Inch X 6 Inch Large Ferro Rods Ferrocerium Rod Drilled Survival Fire Starter Flint Steel
Overall Feedback:
98% positive
97% appreciated its rugged durability, but 3% found it prone to rust
The ferro rod is 1/2 inch x 6 inch and will last a long time.
I will not purchase this product again or recommend it to others.
I find it difficult to get a good spark with the hard rod, compared to pure magnesium rod.
94% found it easy to use in the dark, while 6% struggled with the mechanism
I can light horse hay, cotton balls, paper, dryer lint immediately or in 30 seconds or less with a huge shower of sparks.
When I use a knife and scrape off the protective coat of paint, it is effective.
I started a fire quickly using dried and roughed up bark fibers.
I tried using the ferro rod with minimal spark shower and low heat production. Despite striking it 30 to 50 times with SCHF55, I couldn't get a fire. Eventually, I had to use a petroleum jelly lint ball to start a fire.
I find it difficult to scrape hard enough to get a good spark because the rod is harder than a pure magnesium rod.
95% praised for its reliable ignition, though 5% experienced issues in windy conditions
After 30 to 40 strikes, I noticed that it was not performing well due to hardening up and creating small divots down the rod.

I noticed that it took a few more strikes than normal to ignite the shaved fat wood with this ferrocerium rod.
Response after rephrasing:
It took a few extra strikes to ignite the shaved fat wood with this ferrocerium rod.
96% appreciated its compact size, but 4% found it too bulky
I use my magnesium rod to shave off some magnesium, add wood shavings, and throw sparks with my ferro rod. It flares up easily even in damp conditions.
I realized that the fire steel is bigger and weighty than expected.
I noticed that the pellet fibers did not pull apart and fray as easily as cotton balls, which indicates that the durability of the product is not up to the mark.
The durability of the product is not up to the mark as the pellet fibers do not pull apart and fray easily like cotton balls.
I used only one pack for my campfire and it kept burning for a long while, even after the logs caught. This indicates good durability of the product.
