About SOTO Amicus Stove with or without Igniter Camping Stove
Overall Feedback:
90% positive
90% impressed by the boil time, but 10% found it slower
I took this pot on a five-day trek and used it for light cooking as well as boiling water.
I did not mention the boil time of the stove. My review is about the failure of the piezo on two consecutive stoves, and I express disappointment with the quality control issue.
92% appreciated the durable construction, but 8% experienced issues
The stove lid is more stable than my titanium set's lids.
During our 4 day trip in the backcountry, the stove failed nearly every time.
I am giving the stoves 2 stars due to durability issues, although they are nicely made.
The extension arms holding the cooking pot seem flimsy and could bend easily.
The double o-ring design does not seal properly with adapters for 16oz propane bottles, making it difficult for me to use and limiting its usefulness.
91% found it easy to use, while 9% experienced difficulties
I found the pot to be the perfect cooking vessel for my five-day trek. I used it for light cooking and boiling water. The lid is much more stable than the lids on my titanium set, and the slit made it easy to drain water off pasta. The non-stick surface worked well and stood up to sauting wild mushrooms.
I wanted a stove with a piezo and two in a row failing within a few uses, which was disappointing. Despite being nicely made, I gave it 2 stars.
91% liked the portable design, while 9% thought it was bulky
I have used the stoves and found them to be nicely made and of good quality.
I like the stove because it is self-igniting, although it is not as light as my old Snow Peak.
Many people use their stoves in cold temperature conditions where isobutane does not work.
The stove's portability is limited for me as it requires overpriced and sometimes hard-to-find camping gas.
85% appreciated the wind resistance, but 15% experienced issues
I have found that the stove has good wind resistance.
The built-in igniter works well and the stove performs well in wind conditions.
I haven't mentioned anything about the wind resistance of the stove.
I can boil 750ml of water in about 1 minute and 30 seconds.
