About MSR WhisperLite International Multifuel Backpacking Stove
67% impressed by the boil time, but 33% found it slower
I find that the stove is great for boiling water, but not ideal for simmering or low heat.
To get it to simmer, pump it up 2 or 3 strokes and light it - it's an inside secret.
I find that the stove is great for boiling water, but not so good for simmering or low heat.
If I start with rapid boiling of water, I have to wait for a long time before the pressure in the bottle reduces and the flame dies enough to simmer effectively. I also have to release the pressure from the fuel bottle and relight the stove.
71% appreciated the durable construction, but 29% experienced issues
I have found that this stove is more durable than others because it has fewer parts to break and one less valve to foul up.
The build quality of the stove is impressive and it is much more sturdy than my old butane stove. I have no doubt that it will last for many years of use.

75% praised the flame control, while 25% struggled
I have found that having low pressure in the fuel bottle is the trick to get a really low flame. By only putting one or two pumps into the bottle, the stove will run on a really low flame from the get go, which is great if that is what I want from the start.
It is difficult to extinguish the flame once I adjust it for the desired range. The flame will keep going even in windy conditions as long as there is fuel in the bottle.

The new stove is bigger and heavier than the old butane stove, but its build quality is impressive and it is much more sturdy.
This stove is very light and portable, but difficult to simmer.
I found that the smallest titanium container that can be used reliably and safely is a 900 mL pot.
79% appreciated the wind resistance
I can take the wind-resistant stove to the top of the mountain and have hot food for dinner without fail.
