I purchased this hatchet because my previous one of the same style was breaking on the handle right underneath the blade. I love how this one is about twice as thick at that junction point so I don't imagine I will have trouble with it breaking any time soon.
The axes are great starters, but there is a 50/50 chance of getting a decent handle. Be prepared to put a new handle on it.
The edge of my axe-hatchet takes a lot of damage easily and the handle has knots in strange places that make me uneasy if I get a bad hit.
I think the product is junk and of poor quality.

The hatchet grip is very slick. I would recommend getting some hockey tape.
I find that the metal is the weak point and it doesn't sharpen nicely by hand. It's better to use a grinder, but the edge chips and breaks quickly.
I am dissatisfied with the appearance of the axe. It should not look like that from the manufacturer.
