The quality of the steel and overall construction on this tomahawk is quite good.

In dry conditions, the handle feels strong and secure in my bare hands.
The nylon handle feels strong and secure in bare hands in dry conditions, but can get slippery with gloves.
The grip of the tomahawk is made of hardened plastic and is sufficient under regular conditions. However, when hands are wet, it is hard to keep a firm hold on it. I have found that using Mechanix gloves provides tremendous grip compared to bare hands.

To get a good grip with this axe, I had to hold it closer to the blade as the grip was nearly useless. I used 550 paracord to make it better.
I suggest using gloves with the proper type to prevent slipping on the handle of the tomahawk, even with serrations.
