About INTERTOOL 15 Wood Splitting Hatchet
Overall Feedback:
87% positive
81% praised the sharp and durable blade, while 19% found it needed frequent sharpening
The hatchet's blade quality is exceptionally good. I sharpened it with a hand rotary on arrival and maintain it with whetstones. It keeps an edge well and I have seen no wear except for the expected coating loss.
My main complaint with the purchase is the lack of a blade cover.
My axe head has an uneven edge, which is round and unsharp on one side and has a smooth and clean finish on the other.
82% praised the rugged and reliable construction, though 18% experienced damage
I think the axes are of good quality, but the description needs to be corrected.
For what I'm using it for, the axe is pretty damn good value.
On the third day, the axe broke off the handle without hitting it on wood, indicating poor build quality.
After 8 stumps, the handle shattered, revealing that the axe head was being held on by foam and epoxy, indicating poor build quality.
My main issue with the purchase is the lack of a blade cover.

I have chipped some fiberglass handles before while being hard on axes, which irks me a little. This negative feedback is based on my experience with the grip comfort of camping-axes-hatchets.

I have used the hatchet to limb felled trees and it has turned out to be my best hand hewer.

76% appreciated the built-in safety features
I have never seen a blade guard as simple and effective as the one that comes with the axe.
The hatchet's blade quality is exceptionally good. I sharpened it with a hand rotary on arrival and maintain it with whetstones. It keeps an edge well and I have seen no wear except for the expected coating loss.
I spent about an hour and a half filing the edge of the blade into a blade. I also spent about half an hour honing the blade with an ax sharpening puck and it is still not sharp like I want it yet. Based on my experience, the blade was sharp enough to make a decent hammer. However, I have faced this problem personally and would like to express my negative feedback regarding the blade quality.
The heat-treated edge ensures durability and sharpness over time.
