I own four Fiskars axes/hatchets and use them all the time. They are of the best quality, lightweight yet stronger than the wood handle ones. Based on my experience, I highly recommend them.
The axe has a solid, balanced design with a sharp edge right out of the box. It's tough as nails and the handle is easy on the hands.
The hatchet is well-balanced, light, and well-built.
Fiskars axes/hatchets are lightweight, strong, and of the best quality.
84% liked the easy maintenance
I have a hatchet with a lightweight design and a firm grip thanks to its lip and oval handle.
I can easily sharpen my axe with a sharpening stone in just a couple of minutes.
With the help of a lansky puck, I can easily restore the blade of my hatchet with minimal effort and make it knife sharp again.
I do not like the smoothness of the handle as it allows the grip to slide around too freely unless I squeeze constantly, which can lead to hand fatigue. However, it can be easily fixed with grip tape.
I am concerned about the plastic handle slipping, even though it is smooth.
I had to add grip tape to the smooth and slippery orange grip area because it was difficult for me to grip.
The orange grip area was smooth and slippery, making it difficult for me to grip the hatchet. I added grip tape to feel more secure.
89% appreciated the lightweight and compact design
The product has great composition and performance and is highly portable.
The hatchet is lighter than all steel types, making it easier to pack. The polymer handle can be slippery, but it flares out and has a DEAD STOP GRIP knob for maximum chopping power.
I have noticed that the axe has a firm grip due to the lip and oval handle and is lightweight.
The carry case is a convenient and safe way to clip the hatchet to my pack without restricting access.
I have noticed that the blade edge comes reasonably sharp and the blade quality of the axe is good.
The blade edge is reasonably sharp and the blade quality of the axe is good.
I spent about an hour and a half filing the edge of the blade into a blade. I also spent about half an hour honing the blade with an ax sharpening puck and it is still not sharp like I want it yet. Based on my experience, the blade was sharp enough to make a decent hammer. However, I have faced this problem personally and would like to express my negative feedback regarding the blade quality.
