The padding provides good protection to my camera and lens. The compartment is inside a zipper part and the top of the bag latches with 2 latches, securing everything well.
I have not used the bag yet, so I cannot vouch for its water resistance or weather proofing. However, I feel that the bag should be good at protecting the gear unless it is in a torrential downpour.
My bag for my Nikon DSLR and accessories is protective, spacious, and has lots of pockets. It also has a good water-resistant function.
The bag has two dividers attached with velcro that can be adjusted to protect the camera and lens snugly.
