About TICONN 100PCS Heat Shrink Butt Wire Connector Kit
Overall Feedback:
88% positive
86% loved its compatibility with various cable sizes, but 14% experienced compatibility issues
I have noticed that the connector does not grip the wire as well as others, even with the same crimp tools.
I have used heat shrink butt connectors for marine work for many years and found these connectors to be of poor quality. They may be dangerous as the insulation was breached and one even broke in two upon crimping, suggesting that the metal part is too brittle.
87% appreciated its corrosion-resistant design, though 13% experienced issues
I have complained that the metal used in these connectors is not of higher quality and it doesn't grip the wire well.
The crimp is so tight that it digs into the insulation, almost reaching the inner glue layer.
82% found it easy to install, but 18% had difficulties
I have personally faced difficulty in pulling apart the crimp as it digs into the insulation and seems to reach the inner glue layer, indicating a challenging installation process.
In quite a few cases, the wire pulled right out of the connector as the connectors don't seem to grip the wire as well as others.
When attempting to splice wires of the appropriate size with the correct tools using good technique, only 1 in 3 butt-terminals actually grip the wire and stay put.
80% found it resistant to high temperatures, but 20% experienced thermal failures
In many cases, the wire pulled right out of the connector, indicating that the heat resistance of the butt-terminals is not up to the mark.
I tried to melt the solder using a butane torch, but it never melted. This indicates that the butt-terminals may not have good heat resistance.
81% appreciated its high-quality insulation, though 19% experienced insulation failures
Upon crimping, the insulation was breached which could be dangerous.
84% praised for its high-quality terminals, while 16% found them flimsy
The crimp produced by the 16-22 red notch on Klein Ratcheting Crimper, 10-22 AWG - Insulated Terminals (3005CR) is of high quality as it can't be pulled apart and really digs into the insulation to the point where it seems to get down to the inner glue layer.
The metal being squashed and crimped is simply not correct.
In quite a few cases, the wire pulled right out of the connector as it doesn't grip the wire as well as others.
The heat shrink butt connectors we used were of poor quality and may be dangerous.
I am curious to see the long term water resistance of the shrink tube as there is not much sealer in it.
