About Melissa & Doug Wooden Building Blocks Set - 100 Blocks in 4 Colors and 9 Shapes
Overall Feedback:
91% positive
84% praised educational value
This product is very useful for kids to learn about shapes, sizes and to improve their motor skills, hand-eye coordination, spatial skills, creativity, divergent thinking and social skills. The blocks can also be integrated into pretend play scenarios and there is evidence that complex block-play is linked with advanced math skills in later life.
This product is great for educational purposes and helps children learn developmental benefits like colors, shapes, fine motor skills, and creativity.
During every play session, the blocks provide a lot of educational value, such as counting, identifying colors, or sorting shapes.
80% liked easy assembling
It was easier to put together than expected.
88% appreciated the sturdy construction, however, 12% encountered breakages
The toys are very durable and I am not worried about them breaking when stacked, knocked down, or used as construction material with my construction toys.
The blocks are made of a compressed wood composite and when I tried to drill into one, it was remarkably resilient.
The blocks are made of durable wood and coated with thick paint to prevent peeling.
I gave a durability rating of 3/5 because some pieces have already started to have paint chipped off within a month.
85% found it child-friendly, although 15% raised concerns
This product is not child-friendly, especially if children put them in their mouth. I am concerned about the paint or chemicals used on the blocks and recommend not using them with children.

Given some time, I noticed my first-grade students started building amazing structures with the building-toys, despite initially struggling to figure out what to do with them.
I purchased the product for my 7-year-old child and loved it.
