About Plugable USB Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy Micro Adapter
Overall Feedback:
85% positive
72% liked the high-quality build, but 28% experienced durability issues
After posting my experience, Plugable contacted me and pointed out that desktop components without integrated bluetooth don't often bother with shielding to prevent interference.
The product uses a Broadcom chipset, which is a quality choice for laptops with Bluetooth.
I experience static in the Bluetooth reception even when 3 feet away.
88% liked its compatibility with multiple devices, but 12% had issues with certain brands
I can easily pair it with all my BT devices and it holds the connections reliably.
I think there may be an issue with my Logitech K810, possibly related to compatibility with bluetooth-network-adapters.
I faced issues with the device being recognized by the system and had to order another device which worked right out of the box.
80% found it easy to install
The installation process was very easy and took only 5 seconds from start to finish.
Installing the adapter was easy with plug and play, and I manually installed the drivers.
I found the installation of the adapter extremely easy in Windows 10 and it was immediately recognized by the system.
I didn't need to install any drivers as I am using Ubuntu Linux.
86% praised for its extended range, while 14% experienced connection drops
I am disappointed with the limited range of the Bluetooth adapter. It only allows for 6-8 feet of separation in clear space before the BT signal is lost. However, when I tested the range with two different tablets, I was able to achieve more than 30 feet of separation even through walls without dropout. This suggests that the issue may be specific to the device being used with the adapter.
I faced an issue when I plugged it into the back of my rig, the connection became spotty and the range went down significantly.
My other bluetooth devices work at the usual 9ish foot range, but this device simply doesn't reach further than that.
78% appreciated the fast transfer speeds, though 22% experienced lag
I had issues with connectivity and sound quality when I plugged the adapter directly into the rear ports of the motherboard. But, the issues disappeared when I moved the adapter to a USB cable and kept it a few feet away.
After syncing my headphones for the first time, they now connect to Bluetooth immediately after powering them on.
When I connect my dualshock 4 to my computer, the latency is usually around 3-4 ms. Online games usually have about 30-50 ms of latency, but I never notice anything. The transfer speed is pretty close to exact.
I experienced a serious lag/delay in the sound over Bluetooth while playing a video game, causing the sound to be one second or more behind the visuals.
