I compared the magnification power of different binoculars by singling out specific objects, squirrels, and birds as well as stationary objects from 5 feet to 350 feet away in my backyard and surrounding trees. I was much more pleased with the sharpness and clarity of the 10 x 42’s.
I prefer 8 power over 10 power for a number of reasons. Athlon binoculars are noticeably better when it comes to clarity, light capture and just about every other measure.
If you need to see further than 500 yards, opt for 10x42 or 10x50 binoculars.
