About Muc Off C3 Ceramic Wet Bike Chain Lube
Overall Feedback:
84% positive
83% liked its ability to clean the chain, but 17% found it left residue
Removing the lube from my bike chain requires more effort than any other lube product I have used.
I had a hard time removing the residue from the bike lube and had to scrape it off with a knife.
After applying bike-lube to a clean chain and sprockets, my chain became black and sticky after a 60-mile ride in wet conditions.
81% found it easy to apply
It is best to apply the lube the night before to allow it to work into all the nooks and crannies, although it can be applied a couple of hours before in a pinch.
The lube is less messy and does not spray off the bike and onto the frame/legs.
74% appreciated its long-lasting effect, but 26% found it broke down quickly
With fortnightly chain maintenance, the bottle will last for a couple of years.
I have noticed that the lube becomes extremely sticky and gunky after riding in wet or muddy conditions, unlike other wet lubes.
After using this lubricant for just a few weeks, my chain and front ring/sprocket were completely covered with a thick black residue.
85% praised for its excellent lubrication, while 15% thought it wore off quickly
I have found that the ceramic lube from Muc-Off lasts longer than other lubes I've used in wet and muddy conditions.
I have complained that the lube becomes extremely sticky and gunky after riding in wet or muddy conditions, unlike other wet lubes.
If the lube cannot handle at least 10 miles of dry riding, it is basically useless.
After using this lubricant for a week or two, my bike's chain and front ring/sprocket were completely gunked up with a thick black residue.
81% appreciated its water-resistant properties, though 19% found it washed off easily
The bike-lube is not water resistant enough. The chain and front ring/sprocket got gunked up with a thick black residue after just a week or two of cycling in the wet.
My cleaning process for the bike-lube involves running the chain through a cleaner with citrus degreaser after about 3-5 rides, then running it through a shop rag and letting it dry thoroughly. I then apply the lube, run the chain through all the gears, wipe the excess off the rings and gears and let it sit for an hour or so before removing the excess from the chain. In between cleanings, I lightly grasp the sides of the chain in a shop rag and most dirt comes right off.
I have noticed that grime gets stuck in the chain and requires a full degrease soak to remove.
