About Giro Aether MIPS Cycling Helmet
Overall Feedback:
89% positive
82% found it easy to adjust, but 18% struggled
At the maximum adjustment setting, the medium size Aether helmet barely fits.
I am concerned about the adjustability of the bike-helmet. The connections are made of small and flimsy plastic nodes that slip out of their tracks and do not stay in place when reinserted.
I noticed that the front headband of the helmet wants to sit further down on your forehead than it should be. After adjusting the back height adjustment and width snaps, I finally got it to where it should be.

87% found it comfortable
Once I adjust it properly, the helmet is comfortable, secure, and airy.
The helmet is comfortable to wear and reasonably lightweight. It is not as light as my previous Giro helmet due to the MIPS protection system.
The helmet is very light and airy and it cools my head in 94-98 degree weather.
88% appreciated the safety features, but 12% didn't
I believe the design flaw could compromise the helmet's safety in a crash.
73% liked the high-quality visor, but 27% found it flimsy
The visor quality of the helmet is very good and it is better than glasses for me.
After less than two weeks, the front part of my helmet is delaminating because the front edge is glued to it.
I have noticed that the glue on the rubber front pieces is coming undone and I have to press them down hard but they keep peeling off.
Rephrased: The glue on the rubber front pieces is coming undone and I have to press them down hard but they keep peeling off.
The front of my helmet comes down further than my other helmets, causing my sunglasses to touch my brow and push down a little into the top of my nose.
The helmet can be adjusted in two ways. First, adjust the tightness by pulling out tabs near the strap and re-attaching them. Second, adjust the height by pushing and pulling on the plastic parts at the back.
I compared the new tensioner of the helmet with the old one and found it to be an improvement. The new system provides a continuous and smooth increase in tension as the dial is turned. It is easy to adjust in both directions and remains in place when the dial is no longer being turned.
