On high-power mode, the light is extremely bright. It is advised to point it slightly downwards to avoid blinding other cyclists.
On the lowest setting, the brightness is more than adequate for my small town trail riding needs.
On low, the beam brightness and spread are perfectly adequate for normal commuting. Hi-beam is double the lumens (200 low/400 high) and is bright enough for any situation I encounter.

The screw design is less likely to break. I have lost other poorly constructed lights to bumps in the road because they weren't as sturdy as a cateye.
