I tried cheaper collars but they never stood up to my dog's stubbornness and love for the ocean and water.
The bark-collar's waterproof and durable construction is a huge plus for me since my dog is active and outside a lot, playing with other dogs, hiking, etc.
I have used the collar on my dog while he swam in a kiddy pool and it is water resistant, but I removed it when he went swimming in the lake.
