I used the Sportdog bark collar on my dog for one day and corrected him twice. The first time he was surprised, yelped, and went to lay down immediately. The second time he had a lightbulb moment. I felt bad because we don't use a lot of sharp, deliberate corrections in our house.

After putting the bark-collar on Sunday, it took me a day to figure it out and then the barking decreased quickly.
I suggest buying both the collar and an e-collar and going through training with the e-collar to slowly integrate it into life with low levels.

Cheap tools can create superstitious, confused, and anxious dogs who may even ignore the correction because they are not reliable. I did not put all the training work into this dog to ruin him with unfair corrections. The timing has to be impeccable.
The collar worked well for around 8 months, but now my dog continues to bark even while wearing it without any stimulation.
I bought cheaper collars for my large dogs, but the battery life and strength were not suitable. I hoped spending more money would be worth it, but other than a better battery life, I have had the same outcome.
