About Birchwood Casey Long-Lasting Fast-Drying Super Black Touch-Up Pen
Overall Feedback:
81% positive
73% praised for its perfect color match, while 27% found it slightly off.
The paint has a glossy finish, not flat black.
My observation is that the paint color does not match with AR blued hardware and it remains slightly glossy even when dried.
I can handle the glossy black, but I cannot get over the thickness and lumping of it.
75% praised for its generous coverage area, though 25% needed multiple applications.
I have noticed that the paint does not stick properly to any contact surfaces.
The paint pen's hard and imprecise tip makes it difficult to achieve a thin/even coat of paint without a brush or foam applicator.
67% appreciated the fast drying time, though 33% experienced slower drying.
I noticed that the paint dries to a slightly glossy finish, but after drying, rubbing it with a soft cloth dulls it to match near perfectly.

I let the paint dry for about 2 days before checking it, but I'm not sure of the actual drying time.
The pen took a while to dry and released eye-wateringly noxious fumes during use.
I find the paint to be thick and gooey, difficult to apply uniformly, and it dries very quickly, becoming gummy in less than 30 seconds and cannot be touched up after that.
75% liked its long-lasting durability, though 25% noticed it chipped easily.
Since applying the paint, I have been to the range more times and the finish has held up well.
I have found that the durability of the paint in this marker is poor.
I noticed that the finish is not as durable as duracoat or cerakote.
76% found it easy to apply, while 24% experienced difficulties.
The pen is easy to use but has a shiny black finish and lays down thick, resembling black nail polish.
76% appreciated the smooth finish, but 24% experienced a rough texture.
Since applying the paint, I have been to the range more times and the finish quality has held up well.
The finish of my pen is matte and visible when looking closely at touched-up areas.
I am disappointed with the finish quality of the automotive-touchup-paint. The pen is easy to use but the finish is not flat black as advertised. Instead, it has a shiny black finish that lays down pretty thick, making it look like black nail polish.
I would be embarrassed to market this product as a good recoater for anything.
The color is almost identical to BMW's Shadowline trim.
