About Aleene's "Aleenes15594 Leather & Suede Glue 4oz
Overall Feedback:
85% positive
84% appreciated the clear drying finish
The glue dries glossy and transparent, leaving a slightly darker brown patch on my leather.
The glue stuck the leather pieces together and dried clear.
77% praised the easy washability, but 23% struggled
When the glue dries, it becomes visible, making it unsuitable for use on top of surfaces. I had to wipe up any excess or live with it being noticeable.
83% liked the versatility for different materials
I used Aleenes leather glue to attach leather strips to a wooden box mounted on my ATV. The glue remained strong even after using it for a couple of months in all kinds of weather.
I found that the glue worked well for gluing two pieces of suede together, especially the back/rough sides.
The product met my exact requirement as it is flexible and sets up quickly.
76% praised the non-toxic formulation, whereas 24% had concerns
The cure time of the glue varies based on environmental conditions like temperature, humidity, and materials used.
77% praised the flexible bond
The glue is easy to clean up before it dries and dries clear with the flexibility needed for Leather and other fabrics.
82% appreciated the quick drying time, but 18% found it dried slowly
For best adhesion, it takes several hours, but my repairs usually require the units to sit overnight.
I was able to remove the glue even after a couple of hours of drying and it left no residue.
I applied glue and placed heavy books on top to press down for 19 hours, but it still did not dry properly.
84% liked the long-lasting bond
The bond became even stronger the next day and it was so strong that I could not pull it apart even if I tried.
86% praised the strong adhesive bond, yet 14% didn't
When I applied the proper amount, the product dried well and provided strength to the backside of top grain furniture leather.
When the glue got wet in the rain, it came undone and the piece shifted. However, once it dried, it held the piece in position as if nothing happened. The adhesion came back once the glue re-dried, and it holds as well as originally. But when it gets wet, the glue loses its adhesion.
I noticed that the glue sticks are runnier than others and soak the fabric, causing them to slide all over the place.
Rephrased: The glue sticks are runnier than others and soak the fabric, causing them to slide all over the place.
The glue has a thick consistency, making it easy to apply without making a mess. It works well on multiple materials like paper, fabric, wood, and even plastic.
I make fabric beads and use a 1/2 and 1/2 mix to stiffen the fabric, allowing me to cut it to size and roll it into a bead.
