I have a bunch of nail files in different sizes and grit that I use on my actual fingernails. I prefer a nice, soft, fine grit for reeds, one that is just big enough for me to hold the reed between my finger and thumb while I gently run the file over the facing of the reed.
I have noticed that the reeds can easily chip from small bumps, which is inconvenient for storage.
