The air-mattress inflates to a very firm mattress, even on the 'plush' setting, which is not my preference. However, I can deflate it to my taste.

I found the air mattress exceptionally comfortable and felt great after using it. Over the years, all of my guests who used the mattress have raved about it and my son-in-law said it was the best air mattress he had ever used. The best testament as to how comfortable this bed really is: my sister-in-law used the mattress last week and loved it so much that she took it home with her!
My friends and I found the medium setting comfortable and added a mattress pad to make it feel more like a normal bed.
