If you pull on it well enough, the metal yarn holder rod will stay put, even though the ball pulls it towards it.
I want to address some of the concerns that I saw, such as the box saying "wool" and the fact that yarn in some countries is referred to as "wool", because it fills up too quickly and tangles the gears.
If you let the tension get loose, the yarn will drop underneath the winder and get tangled on the axis, which is a pain to remove and usually results in cutting the yarn off, not great to have that happen when winding more expensive yarns.
I use this to make it easier to store my yarn, it takes too much space and I like using it to make cakes.
The lamp doesn't extend far, and the only thing I have in my house is a wooden TV tray, which is less sturdy than I could wish for.
Question & Answers
How much can the handle hold?
When I buy a super big skein of yarn, I remove it and guide the tail into the cake, because when the outside edge of the cake is nearing the post guiding the yarn, I carefully remove it and allow the yarn to wind as normal.
I don't know how to disassemble the machine because the gears come loose.
If the gears are loose, you should return them and get a different one. I love mine and the only trouble I have is what I create when I don't hold the yarn right and it starts winding around the gears at the bottom.
I don't have a table to mount it.How can it be mounted?
I found a smaller table that the clamp fits on because my big table was too thick.
What are the extra pieces for as a new person in the world of yarn work?
I'm not sure what you mean, but these are just a gift with the winder, and it might make a useful gift at a party.
How can I fix the gear that goes off on the machine?
I'm not sure what you mean when you say to open the machine.
