I recommend spending an additional $3 to get the 1618571014 SDS-plus Shank 3 Jaw Chuck with Integral, because of the Fine print on the back of the package for this 3 Jaw Keyless Chuck, which I did on 11/12/14
I attach this to the sds chuck so that the hammer energy can be transmitted through it. The mistake was that bosch reduced the length of the shank so it wouldn't touch the center of the sds chuck.
I bought the RHVC328 to drill holes in concrete walls and my garage/workshop walls, and it seems like it will be useful for drilling large holes in lumber as well.
The drill bit can slide back and forth like a piston when latched into the chuck, which is normal for an SDS chuck or drill bit.
I tried it again and it didn't work for 6 holes in 4” concrete, but I think it has this wonderful click and ratchet when it gets tight and then clicks when you release the bit.
Question & Answers
Which is better, a Bosch key or a keyless construction?
If you start a drill and forget key is still in the chuck, it's better.
Is it possible to use this for hammering (chisel, rotory hammering) and other things?
I can't speak for the keyless version of the Bosch chuck adapter, but I have the key version of it.
Does the chuck loosen when operating in the opposite direction or is there a flat spot to lock the chuck on the shank?
I used it to mix mortar for 2K feet of floor tile, it locks in place just like a bit would.
Is this one able to do better than the other ones? All the other adapters can be used in a clockwise direction only because the chuck will otherwise unscrew itself.
The HA3JAW adapter is designed to run in a clockwise direction. For further assistance, contact us at 1-877-BOSCH99 (1-877-267-2499) from Mon-Fri 7A-7P CST.
