What users have to say about DHK 18 Inch Vintage Handmade Leather Messenger Bag
I was impressed by the rugged beauty and the craftsmanship, but I was even more impressed by the large amount of room in the front and the smell of leather.
The leather is dark and dark in color, but it isn't distressed at all, and the satchel in the item pictures has either been used or has been treated with an Apache cream or mink oil to darken some spots.
Looks great, average durability, good craftsmanship, and thread loss in the interior of the back pocket, but the shoulder strap broke after 13 months.
After 22 years in the legal profession, I decided to upgrade to something larger to hold legal files, but also something made out of a nice quality leather, because I didn't want to spend over $300, or even $200, or even $100.
On the sides of the bag there are smaller pockets that are great for less important items, and on the back of the bag there is a larger compartment that is perfect for storing packs of Scantrons.
What type of leather is this bag made out of?
I don't know where they found this goat hunter or how they got his family's permission to make him into a bag, but it turned out very nice and I think it was made from goat hunter leather.
How well does the seems hold up?
The bag weighed 18 lbs when the handle snapped mid lift, but it is holding up well now that only one side is attached.
Is it safe to use leather conditioner or waterproof?
It comes in a flat box, but you need to spread it out from there.
Is it waterproof?
If you didn't dry it out, it would rot in less than 48 hours, and even if it was waterproof, you wouldn't leave full grain leathers like this in rain.
Would this bag be a good accessory for a student?
I use this bag for my college studies because it has plenty of room for notebooks, laptop, and all of the other necessary supplies.
