We used to buy packs of white washcloths from Ikea, they were the perfect size and held their shape quickly, but now they're not the same size, are at least twice as thick, and hold their shape.
The price is great and I never run out, because it cuts down on paper towel usage when you can grab a wash cloth for everything but the grossest stuff.
I bought the white ones for my nephew so he wouldn't ask for mine, and they're very soft, very absorbing, which makes them an ideal value for the money.
The wash cloths are very thin when you first wash them, but after a few runs through the dryer they become very soft and fluffy.
They are soft enough for a baby and hold up well after washing a few times.
